If the iCloud option in game is grayed out (does not respond to input) then please make sure in your iOS device settings, under iCloud, that the "Documents & Data" options is set to "On" (you can toggle it off and on if you like).
Once that is done, and assuming you are signed into an iCloud enabled Apple ID, then the option in the game should become available to change to "On".
